DAVE & GIRISH & CO., a law firm with a difference, was by Late Mohanlal Dave in the year 1978. He specialized in banking and securities documentation. Apart from his knowledge on laws, Late Mohanlal Dave excelled in his knowledge on Rig Veda and had studied Sanskrit. He was also awarded a citation by the Government of India for translating the Constitution of India from English to Sanskrit.

Late Girish Dave joined Late Mohanlal Dave as a Founder Partner in the year 1980. He had varied and extensive experience on Financial, Banking and Project Finance, Security documentation (both domestic and offshore) and was an advisor to Foreign Banks in India including financial institutions like the International Finance Corporation (Washington) - Affiliate of the World Bank. 

Prior to entering the practice, Late Girish Dave worked with Reserve Bank of India and State Bank of India , ANZ, Grindlays Bank, in its Merchant Banking Division, Bombay as legal advisor.

In 1990’s the firm’s practice developed into various financial sectors including documentation, arbitration litigation in structured finance, derivatives,complex corporate restructuring structures, Mergers and acquisitions and bankruptcies, SEBI and SAT litigations and also into the world of TMT. Over the 40 years since its formation, the firm has expanded into the areas of International Finance and Corporate law has it’s offices in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
